About Lexie

Hi! I’m Lexie! I was born and raised in Central Florida where I spent my days enjoying wonderful things like sunshine, warm weather and Mickey Mouse. I received my Bachelor’s degree from Florida State University in Flute Performance. That’s where I met and fell in love with my husband, Adam. We moved to the Pacific Northwest, where we lived for 13 years. In 2019, we moved to Charleston, SC, where we are happy to be back in the sunshine and warm weather!

I got the photography bug from my dad. He was always taking pictures while my brother and I were growing up. Unfortunately, since he was the one behind the camera, he was so very rarely IN photos. Sadly, my dad passed away when I was 14. A few years ago, I realized that although I have many wonderful memories, I have only a handful of snapshots of us together. It made me realize, even more, how important photographs are – a visual reminder of our pasts.

In my other life, I am also a professional flutist. My husband and I are avid Florida State Seminoles fans, and spend most of our free time finding ways to tire out our energetic German Shepherd mix, Bo.

About Lexie

Hi! I’m Lexie! I was born and raised in Central Florida where I spent my days enjoying wonderful things like sunshine, warm weather and Mickey Mouse. I received my Bachelor’s degree from Florida State University in Flute Performance. That’s where I met and fell in love with my husband, Adam. We moved to the Pacific Northwest for 12.5 years, before Adam’s job recently offered him a position in North Charleston, SC. We are happy to be back in the land of sun and 90 degree weather and looking forward to lowcountry living!

Alexis Merritt Photography opened in 2010. I love capturing the love and connection that exists in families; siblings who love each other, in spite of the chokehold from big brother; the look in Mom’s eyes, as she watches her husband playing with their toddler; the absolute newness of a 6 day old baby….the list goes on! My hope after your session with me is that you walk away with a smile on your face, the laughter from your children still ringing in your ears.

In my other life, I am also a professional flutist. I played with a flute choir in Seattle, Circle of Flutes, and we released a CD together in 2014. My husband and I are avid Florida State Seminoles fans, and spend most of our free time finding ways to tire out our energetic German Shepherd mix, Bo.
